Came here for lunch with family on Saturday noon. We liked the service from the waiter and the seats and tables were clean. We ordered the wafflewich and pulled chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. We liked all the dishes, and everything was cooked right. You would need to ask for napkins though as you get only one despite that it's a handheld food !

This restaurant was one of the only places open during our visit to the area on a Sunday. It's pretty spacious, with seating upstairs and downstairs. The staff are very friendly and took care of us quickly, even though it seemed to be pretty busy. We started with the Brussels sprouts and they were sooo good! I had the pulled pork platter. The pulled pork was delicious and so tender. I had a side of Mac and cheese which was very good and a side of collard greens which weren't very good. Way too sweet for me! The highlight was definitely the Brussels and I would come back just for those on their own!

Jimmy Madison's has a nice rustic atmosphere serving burgers and bbq. The service was pretty good, although I prefer more frequent drink refills. The bbq was okay along with the broccoli salad. However, the chicken fingers were excellent and my son enjoyed his burger and the nachos were ok, but could've used more meat for what you pay.

Super delicious bbq point right in JMUs downtown area! We got Jimmys Brussels as recommended by our server and they did not disappoint. All the meat platters we tried (pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket) were very delicious. Hush puppies and other sides were good too. I wish I picked a different second side other than the coleslaw though. Manager came around and asked us if we needed anything while there which was nice. The vibe in there was causal and a cool spot. We sat upstairs and there was plenty of space. Def check this spot out for some quick bbq downtown!

In town on work and heard a lot about this place. All the employees were super sweet and checked on me a couple times throughout the meal. The Brussels are probably in the top 2 I have ever had. Mac n cheese was with smoked Gouda...amazing! Meat was moist and BBQ sauce was the perfect top!

When our initial plan fell through, we turned to Plan B, as we were starving. Enter Jimmy Madison's. On an unseasonably warm January evening we entered the very darling town of Harrisonburg. The service was beyond friendly. The ambiance was beyond beautiful. And the food was beyond good. We had the brisket and the smoked meatloaf, but the real star was one of the sides: the Brussels sprouts. Boy were they ever tasty! We had two different old-fashioneds, one traditional and one specialty. The traditional one was much better. We also shared a pecan pie for dessert, which was top notch.

In town for an event and decided on this place to check out the local BBQ. It's a big restaurant, and we were seated upstairs where you can also get a good overhead view of the restaurant if you stand by the railing. The upstairs has a big open feel, which I liked. We ordered the Combo BBQ Platter and a Cobb sSalad to share. As whiskey was this place's specialty, husband ordered a whiskey sour (he was looking for a not-to-sweet option). The salad was a decent portion and came with each ingredient separated on the plate so you had to mix it yourself. We ordered the brisket and pulled chicken for our meats and collard greens and coleslaw for the sides that come in the BBQ Platter. The brisket was not too fatty, which I prefer, and tender. The table had four different sauces you could choose from. The pulled chicken was nice and moist; the pulled chicken at BBQ places is always a risk for being dry. We also had some hush puppies, which my husband really enjoys. He found these tasty, but could've been a little sweeter for him. Service was adequate. If in the area and looking for BBQ,, I'd come again.

Finally stopped at JMads as my son is a 2nd year at JMU. Four of us were able to walk in at 1pm on a Saturday and be seated right away, although it became crowded soon after. The restaurant has a cool, old time bar vibe. Lots of seating, great bar and not too loud. We ordered drinks. While this is a whiskey bar and they had some great whiskey cocktails, we had to drive home so no chance to try this time. Our order: Pulled chicken sandwich Chicken and waffle sandwich Pulled pork platter Fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich Everyone enjoyed their food and said it was quite flavorful. My friend raves about the brussel sprouts. I had the fried green tomato sandwich and it was absolutely delicious albeit messy. Would highly recommend and definitely would order again. The kids finished off the meal with a delicious and decadent slice of peanut butter pie.
